Single Item Preference Assessment

To learn about creating preference assessment in the student portal, please visit Preference Assessment.

 

Once you have created a new preference assessment in the portal and you are ready to begin collecting data, tap the Assessment tab in the student's notebook

 

 

A list of the available assessment will be displayed to the left of the spiral.  After you tap the desired assessment, an overview screen will display.  Tap the Create New button to start. 

 

 

 You can also view past assessments by tapping View Results and tapping the desired assessment from the list.

 

 

If you enabled "Allow Setting Override" in the portal, you can adjust the number of sessions and interval length directly on your mobile device.  If you did not enable this feature during set up in the portal, the settings will be locked on the device.  

 


Tap Start.  You will then see the session number you are conducting, as well as how many total session in the assessment.

 

 

The first item in the assessment will be displayed on the screen.  Place the item in front of the student and tap the Item Presented button.

 

 

Once the Item Presented button is tapped, the interval timer will begin to countdown.

 


 

Interval Length

The length of the interval is set on the portal under the assessment tab when the assessment was created. You can also adjust the interval length on the mobile device if you have setting override privileges.

 

If the student approaches the item and begins to engage with it, tap the green Item Engaged button.  This will start the engagement timer on the right of the screen and the green Item Engaged button will turn to red and display an Item Disengaged option.  If the student stops engaging with the stimulus item, tap the red button to stop the duration timer.  You can toggle back and forth between those two states as many times as necessary during the interval.  

 

 

When the interval timer runs out, the next stimulus item will be displayed.

 

 

After all items are presented, the results of your session will be displayed.  Results are displayed in descending order of duration of engagement with stimulus.

 

 


 Paired Choice (Forced Choice)

When you are ready to begin collecting data, tap the Assessment tab in the student's notebook.

 

 

A list of the available assessment will be displayed to the left of the spiral.  After you tap the desired assessment, an overview screen will display.  Tap the Create New button to start. 

 

 

You can also view past assessments by tapping View Results and tapping the desired assessment from the list.

Catalyst automatically counterbalances the position of the reinforcers across presentations. Therefore, to ensure treatment fidelity, please place items on table in the order presented on the screen.

 

If you attempt to select the item before tapping the Item Presented button, an error message will display prompting you to tap the Item Presented button.

 

 

Once the Item Presented button is tapped, the interval timer will begin to countdown.

 

 

Interval Length

The length of the interval is set on the portal under the assessment tab when the assessment was created. You can also adjust the interval length on the mobile device if you have setting override privileges.

 

When the interval timer runs out, the next pair of stimulus items will be displayed.  After all stimulus items have been pair with each other twice, the session will end and the results of your session will be displayed.  Results are displayed in descending order of response selection percentage.

 

 

If you have more than one session in your assessment you can begin the next session by tapping the Start Session button.

 

 

If you exit out of the assessment tab, you can return to the current assessment and complete the remaining sessions by tapping the Continue button, or begin a new assessment by tapping the Create New button.

 

 

 


MSWO: Multiple Stimulus Without Replacement

When you are ready to begin collecting data, tap the Assessment tab in the student's notebook

 

A list of the available assessment will be displayed to the left of the spiral.  After you tap the desired assessment, an overview screen will display.  Tap the Create New button to start. 

 

 

 

You can also view past assessments by tapping View Results and tapping the desired assessment from the list.

 

 

 

If you enabled "Allow Setting Override" in the portal, you can adjust the number of sessions and interval length directly on your mobile device.  If you did not enable this feature during set up in the portal, the settings will be locked on the device.

When items have been arranged and you provide the discriminative stimulus (i.e., "pick one"), press the Items Presented button.

 

 

Once the Item Presented button is tapped, the interval timer will begin to countdown.

Tap the item the student selected and the card will be outlined in green.

 

When the interval timer runs out, the next array of stimulus items will be displayed without the previously selected item.  Additionally, the item that was on the far right of the array has been shifted to the first position.  

 

 

After all stimulus items have been selected, the session will end and the results of your session will be displayed.  Results are displayed in descending order of response selection with an assigned point value based on the total number of items in the array.

 

If you have more than one session in your assessment, you can begin the next session by tapping the Start Session button.

 

 

If you exit out of the Assessment screen you can return to the current assessment and complete the remaining sessions by tapping the Continue button or begin a new assessment by tapping the Create New button.

 

 

Results for assessments with multiple sessions will be presented with a total preference score table and a table for preference items.

If you have more than one session in your assessment you can begin the next session by tapping the Start Session button

 

 

If you exit out of the assessment tab, you can return to the current assessment and complete the remaining sessions by tapping the Continue button, or begin a new assessment by tapping the Create New button.

 

 

Results for assessments with multiple sessions will be presented with a total preference score table and a table for preference items.       

 


Viewing and Analyzing Preference Assessment Assessment Graphs and Raw Data

In order to view and analyze SPA (stimulus preference assessment) data, log into the portal and click on the Assessments tab and then the Preference Assessment sub-tab.

 

Click on the desired assessment from the list in order to view graphs.

By clicking on the Actions menu, you can edit the details of the assessment, add stimulus items, delete or archive the assessment, or view the raw data.



After you click on the assessment name, the graph will display.  Catalyst defaults to displaying a graph of the individual sessions.   

You can view a graph of the sessions total by clicking on the drop down menu.
